Orienteering

Way back in 2007 Sara Ryan and I were approached to contribute to the anthology Snow Stories. Though the book is still seeking a publisher, we’ve been granted permission to share our three page story with you!

First of all, getting to work with THE Sara Ryan was a complete honor for me. Not only is she an all-around fantastic, smart woman whose company I enjoy, but she is also a seriously accomplished author, who is responsible for well known Young Adult titles such as Empress of the World and The Rules for Hearts.

Normally an artist wants to burn their older work and I am certainly no exception– except for this comic. I gotta be honest here, I am still really damn proud of this one. This is one of those pieces where I was actively improving while I created it, specifically my layouts and coloring. I achieved those soft colors by using Tria markers and colored pencil. My drawing may have improved in the last three years, but I am still puffin’ up my chest with pride at this little guy.

So what’re you waiting for? Go on and read our short comic, Orienteering!

EDIT: Or, you can also take a look at my process of creating it!
