Freelancers Roundtable Podcast

Freelancers Roundtable
Back in November last year, Bill Mudron, Katie Lane, Dylan Meconis and I met up for our fourth annual Freelancer Roundtable Podcast!

Each year, the day after Thanksgiving, we gather together to talk shop about freelancing, being self-employed, the lessons we’ve learned that year and answer people’s questions.

Aaaaand we’ve got unedited video clips of our roundtable as well! For some reason the first one won’t play for me (maybe it will for you?) but the rest still seem to be operational: Freelancer Rountable Videos

Cort and Fatboy

Listen to Leia Weathington and Erika Moen on Cort and Fatboy!

“Leia Weathington and Erika Moen are Smut Peddlers. Or at least, they’re comics creators who have contributed a 7 page opus de smut to contribute to an independent tome of lady-centric comics pornography. What the hell does any of that even mean? It’s so much better to hear them tell it, as well as the story of how they came to be collaborators, and what it’s like to work at Periscope Studios, apparently an oasis of sanity and awesomeosity in an industry not so much known for either things. Erika also breaks down the inspired question from Jeff Parker at the heart of her collaboration with him, “Bucko,” and since we’re discussing the art of titillation, it only makes sense that Paul Ryan’s pictures come up for discussion. BONUS: Leia and Bobby slapfight each other over fashion and mispronunciations!”

Where to find the things we talk about:
-Visit Leia Weathington, Dylan Meconis, Lucy Knisley, and Periscope Studio
-Buy The Sexy Times Poster
-Buy Smut Peddler
-Buy Bucko: Customized by Erika, RegularThings From Another World, Powell’s, or Amazon
-Come see Leia and me read our Smut Peddler story at Comics Underground on October 18th at the Jack London Bar at 529 SW 4th Ave, Portland, 8pm.

Boy Howdy Podcast, Episode 11

My rad friends had me back on to the Boy Howdy Podcast for episode 11! I show up about half-way through to help Bill and Anne discuss Disney’s Pinocchio– which was a marked improvement from Snow White (Remember when we talked about that for episode six?)

Dan Savage Podcast

Holy craaaaaaaaaaaap my call made it onto episode 271 of the Savage Love Cast! (I can’t seem to find a functional permalink to that entry, so if you can’t find the episode, here is a direct link to the .mp3. My call starts at the 2:30 mark.)

Earlier this month I posted the video of me making this call, because I figured it would never make it on air and I thought some people might enjoy the story of Matt meeting my parents for the first time. –But now! OH DANG!!

I’m so incredibly stoked! I’ve listened to every single one of his podcasts and Matt and I read his column every week together at our coffee shop and oh my gosh he is kiiiiiiiinda sorta one of my heroes.

Here’s the photo I had taken with him and his husband Terry when they came through Portland in April:

Meeting Dan Savage

I would just like to take this moment to thank my mother for giving me a horrible holiday not-sex story that I could share with thousands of strangers for years to come.

Truly, it is the gift that keeps on giving.

Boy Howdy Podcast

Yesterday I had the extreme pleasure of being the special guest on Boy Howdy, the podcast of my two long time friends, Bill Mudron and Anne Moloney. It is an hour and a half of us talking like we normally would, except this time it is recorded and you can listen and be properly offended.

For a good long time, Anne and Bill have been planning to watch every single one of the Disney animated movies in chronological order. Well, yesterday night we all three commenced that cinematic journey together by watching Snow White and then sharing our thoughts rantings with you listeners at home.

SPOILERS: Snow White winds up not being our favorite movie.

War Rocket Ajax Interview

Jeff Parker and I were interviewed by the fine fellas over at the War Rocket Ajax podcast to talk about our comic, Bucko!

(Our part of the podcast comes up around the 33 minute mark.)

It was a pleasure to speak with them!

You should go listen to us!
